Ten paras issued by the filature of N. Veltakis. The latter was a former French marine officer, from Greek origins, that directed his filature based at el-Mteïn village in the Mount Lebanon and managed to save it from the Druze attackers during the massacres of 1860 (François Lenormant, Histoire des massacres de Syrie en 1860, Paris, 1861, p. 26).
